PORTSMOUTH SECONDARY SCHOOL REPRESENTED AT NORTHERN DOMINICA SCHOOL INDEPENDENCE 2019 RALLY MARCH PASS

Schools in the Northern region of Dominica, the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, arrived at the Benjamin Park to hold the Northern Youth Rally which prepped the students as Dominica Independence is just around the corner. Dominica is about to celebrate 41 years of Independence and indeed with great strides the youth must get involved. Usually every year, the youth rally is celebrated with March passes like that of the real military parade that takes place on Independence Day in Roseau. What stood out today was none other than the Portsmouth Secondary School Students who blew the crowd away with their version of a March Pass as the saluted the public figure which represented the flag of the Commonwealth of Dominica. ALEX BRUNO HOUSTON SPEECH: TO BE DOMINICAN AFTER 41 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

Mr Alex Bruno, a political science major, gave a powerful speech in Houston in light of Dominica's 41 years of Independence. He stressed on the thought and asked the question, "what really does it mean to be dominican?" Not only just dominican, but a Dominican after 41 years of Independence? Are we living up to the standards and expectations of growth society of both in self awarenes and/or country? Are we falling by the wayside or building the way? Are we claiming defeat in the eyes of adversities or are we learning to build strength for a better tomorrow? What does it mean to be dominican in this world we all are living in, even amongst other nationalities? Do we stand out or have we stood down and been ashamed? These are the questions I believe every Dominican should ask themselves as we ponder on FORTY-ONE YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE. One question that I would like to ask though and that is are we truly independent as a people and a country after 41 years of Independence? What are your thoughts Mr Alex Bruno?

HOUSTON AFRO-CARIBBEAN PRAISE JAM 2019 Ft JERMAINE EDWARDS & MUCH MORE

Houston Afro-Craibbean Praise Jam is all about giving praise to the Most High for what he has done in our lives. Let us never forget that many of us would not be where we are right now if it wasn't for the grace and mercy of God. I know I can testify that most, if not all, of my life is surrounded by total grace and it is always a good thing to give thanks and praise for that. Even if its to say "Oh" according to Kirk Franklin, an Oh is all you need to give when it comes down to praise if that's all you can do. God deserves our praises so let's give it to him. Featured on the Praise Jam stage was none other than Jermaine Edwards out of Jamaica; Emrand Henry out of St Lucia; Neesha Woodz out of Barbados; J-Cro out of Dominica and lots more, especially the Nigerian and American Family. Joanne Prince was the main organizer of this event and she did a marvelous job to make this, second of its kind, to become a reality. happen

DOMINICAN NURSES PROTESTING BECAUSE THEY CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE

Health... If I am mistaken, is very important for every single human being, animal, and living thing on this planet. But what happens when the systems which are to set up to keep us healthy are failing? Not only just failing but are neglected by the very caretakers who need to ensure that our healthcare system is up to par and flourishing. THAT IS NOT THE CASE!!! This is why we are here today and the nurses have taken to the streets to protest against Healthcare incompetencies. How on earth do we have the main healthcare facility in such deplorable and degrading conditions? This is unacceptable and the Dominica Minister of Health and colleagues should be ashamed of themselves.

DOMINICA INTERSCHOOLS 2019 RELAYS

Dominica Interschool's Sports Day consisted of a number of athletics competitions but what brings us here today is that of the relays. Relay races has always been dear to me since I am also an athlete who ran track back in highschool. I also use to be involved in Interschools as well for the last 2 years of my highschool days so being a part of this brings back memories. The relay races were held in Portsmouth at the Benjamin;s Park and to make it to this level takes nothing but blood, sweat and sometimes even tears. So the athletes you see here today are meant to be there!
The Inter School games take place every year and there is indeed great friendly competitions to see which school is the best of the best. Schools like Dominica State College, Goodwill Secondary School, Wesley High School, Convent High School, Castle Bruce Secondary School, Portsmouth Secondary School, Dominica Grammar School, North East Comprehensive School, and other schools around the island represented strong and hard on the track and this is how it went down.

DOMINICA PRESCHOOL GETTING MODERNIZED EQUIPMENTS FROM U.S. PATRONS

Dominica Portsmouth Pre School gets some modernized equipments to help in young learning. Not only that but they also received some learning tools that could be used with the Smart Flat Screen Tvs, laptops, modern-day printers and fax machines. This equipment will definitely help in the learning and education process of the dominica young minds to put them at a faster learning curb. Kindergarten in Dominica seems to be on the right tracks for adding this devices because it gives a running start to the kids in the school. Not only that but allows the children to become more familiar with the use of modern technology at a very early age. Kids pick up things pretty fast at an early age so why not give them what they need to further advance our communities as they grow older?

DOMINICA GETS NEW HOUSING & ROOFING RELIEF

Hurricane Maria plays a very import role in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. And that role was to see how strong we can be as human beings. This is why we are here today. There is something in humanity that causes us to lend a helping hand when others have their backs against the wall. Hurricane Maria brought serious destruction to Dominica and in light of Dominica economy, many from overseas have decided to contribute to the Island in this time of despair. Act of Kindness Mission Ministry from Texas gave Donations for food and supplies and this year the Act of Kindness brought in roofing and housing materials to aid in the finishing touches 10 homes across the island. These areas include the Penville, Roseau, Dublanc, Salisbury, St Joseph and a number of other places. So we would just like to say thanks once again to the Act of Kindness Mission for coming to Dominica's shores to aid in our misfortunes.

BRITISH JOSS STONE PERFORMS LIVE WITH DOMINICA MICHELE HENDERSON

The well known British soul singer, Joss Stone, came and performed a number of her songs live and in the flesh in Dominica at the Alliance Francaise Hall in Roseau. She also featured Michele Henderson, one of Dominica's very own soulful and powerful performers and singers where they also came together to do a few duets together. It's so pleasing when our own gets to feature others in the homeland and be a part of something far more bigger than themselves. See music isn't just about performing or singing or playing an instrument. It's the ability to manipulate songs that can touch hearts, minds, body and definitely soul. Music is the only thing when it hits you, you feel it but you don't feel any pain. This is a BrBpTV amateur compilation of that night. Do enjoy.

DOMINICA ST JOHN SCHOOL RECEIVES 100000 DOLLARS!!

The Dominica St John School in Portsmouth, received a total sum of $100000/one hundred thousand dollars! That's a pretty big sum of cash that went into the school in the north but it was for a great cause. That sum of money went into much needed repairs for the school; mainly the roof of the school. The roof of the school was completely destroyed by the devastating category 5 hurricane Maria in 2017 and although much effort was tried by the school to raise funds it still wasn't enough. Thanks to the kind generosity of Secours Populaire Francais, in collaboration with Washway Douglas, the St John School of Portsmouth Dominica was able to receive this donation and build back the school to a functioning educational standard.

DOMINICA RDPS VS SMP FOOTBALL 2018 FINALS

There are a number of things that we know here in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica, and that is for which talent rains and reign supreme! Not only here in Dominica, but across the Caribbean. The uniqueness that we contribute to the world by far, outweighs unilateral thought. However, Dominica is the key focus today so Dominica it is! Dominica is one of the small Caribbean Islands which harnesses very little resources by which it enables its talent to be utilized. In other words, skillset is under utilized in my country! :'( Take for example the Dominican bikers who left to go to St Lucia and won most of their drag races defying the odds. Dominica doesn't have a strip where bikers can practice or anything of that sort yet still, within its odds(including Hurricane Maria's destruction on the island), Dominica still showed up and showed out! This brings us to yet another talent found here, today, this one found in the smallest of youths.
For as long as I have lived, I have seen and heard of great players playing the game of football. Whether it be on the international, regional and local stages. I have always dreamt of seeing Dominica rise to the occasion by which it is able to reckon with the international star countries but no matter how we try, it never seems to happen which brings us to the youth! THERE IS HOPE HALLELUJAH and they are found in our Primary Schools on island! These primary school boys playing here today are vying for the title of Champions for 2018 at the Dominica Primary School Football Finals and, dare I say, these guys are freaking good! Some have even compared their skillset to be far better than some of the older ones on island. Kudos goes out the the coaches for their dedicated effort in ensuring that the local youth may just have a fighting chance on the international stage. I saw The local Portsmouth RDPS School boys at practice at the Benjamin Park.... so you know I was eager to be at the Finals to see them play against the other team. Roosevelt Douglas Primary School (better known as RDPS) versus the St. Mary's Primary School (better known as SMP) were sure to put on a show for those in attendance at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium and now we are happy to bring to you some of the highlights that took place! Enjoy!

DOMINICANS DO DRAG RACING IN ST LUCIA FT CARIBBEAN ISLANDS

Dominica? Drag Racing? Honestly, these are just two things don't seem to go together at all... Why? Because there isn't any type of facility or near possibility that will lead the way for Dominicans to be a partaker in any of these events. If a Dominican wants to be a part of these events, and be successful at it, he/she would most likely need to go overseas. However, in places like St lucia, they do have these facilities and I'm sure other caribbean countries do as well, so you'd expect them to be ahead... or so we thought. Problem with that sentiment is... they weren't ahead! Dominicans were still whooping butt in the different races! Which brings me to the conclusion that all the illegal road races paid off! Yes, I too am guilty for racing on the roads in Dominica but can you blame enthusiasts when nothing is being done to accommodate us? So I have to attribute the success of Dominica here today to illegal road races.
Here in St lucia, there were different Caribbean Islands coming to meet on the stretch/strip down in Vieux Fort, to see who had the top speeds and could hold.. a possible record or two. Friendly competitions between bikes, cars, and cars vs bikes rested on the stretch while forging relations of like-mindedness towards that thrill of personnels who came, partook and marvelled at each other in preparation for the next event. T'was a very successful event indeed and I too was very happy to be a part of it!

Dominica SERNEL performs his 2017 HIT ATTENTION

God is good, all the time and All the time, God is still Good. Amen and Amen to that but let me draw your attention to something. If God is good to you and me... shouldn't we give me all the glory and praise that is due unto him? Why yes... I do believe it should be so... unless I am wrong and you know this to be untrue, then please do let me know. But I believe where God has given us life and breathe it is our responsibility to do so. And this is why I believe Sernel has brought us here today. Bringing to our attention what needs to be brought and that is the truth. Sernel speaks so in his new release song; and you guessed it, 'Attention'. This is the very first time he is going to perform this song and we at BrBpTV were there to ensure that justice was given to his performance.

Sernel not only fused contemporary art in music but speaks the truth that has been told from centuries ago in his music. Talk about bridging the old with the new right? But this still doesn't change the message that what's true is still true. God lives, he reigns and its time for us to take heed to what Sernel has to say in his new fire song called 'Attention'.

First Ever Triathlon Race in Dominica

Now I am 99.9998% sure that most, if not all of you, know what a Triathlon is. So for the remaining 0.0002% let me try to explain this. A Triathlon race entails three possible segments within one race that would involve the athletes to do numerous things. IN this particular Triathlon, it involved swimming, cycling and running. Depending on the skill-set of the athlete, he or she can either do all three and/or each segment of the race can have it's own athlete within that team.
A number of Caribbean countries including Martinique and Guadeloupe merged unto the mountainous landscape of Dominica and prepared themselves for a race that would begin on the south westerly side of Dominica to the North Westerly side of Dominica. The first ever triathlon commenced at the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard in Roseau and terminate at the Cabrits National Park of Portsmouth. Participants engaged in swimming for the first leg of the triathlon, where they swam from Fort Young to Pottersville. The Second Leg of the race involved cyclists from the different countries then riding from Pottersville Savannah all the way to the Rejens Hotel, which is at the entrance area of Picard, Portsmouth coming into Portsmouth. Then the third leg comprised of the running aspect of the race. Runners ran from the Rejens Hotel to Fort Shirley also known as the Cabrits National Park. It was said that Dominica's imposing landscape, a jumble of volcanic mountains, paved in billows of explosive green rain forest, makes it the perfect adventure island for adventure seekers as well as providing a real good competition for explorers and athletes alike. This made Dominica very much suited for this race to test the limitations of its participants. The Jurassic Park without all of the dinosaurs. Supermodel Carlyn Valmond | BrBpTV Interview

I often times ask myself what does it take to become a model? Surely I know a few things that is a necessity in obtaining this status. One, you need to be good looking! Surely, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and therefore this has many a choice in favoritism especially when it comes to those who hold the power in the ability to turn you into a working art as a true model. And by this we know there must be a platform to begin with. :) I could be wrong.... Nah, you ought to have a platform and cuteness. Not only does this count but the fact that there has to be some form of uniqueness in beauty to capture the eye of the viewers. So for all those who might say, "Well, everyone is beautiful"... I have to agree but the beauty has to have a unique captivating -ness(Yes... I just made up a nice word :) ) to put you over the edge and above the others.


Another thing I know based on seeing supermodels working it on the big stage is that, they ought to be tall. Models, from what I have gathered tend to be 5feet 8 inches tall for the least. Why? I have no idea whatsoever but that seems to be the criteria. So what does this say for "models" who do not fit this criteria? Well... I got news for y'all, not everyone who meets these requirements are cut out for that task because in this competition, there seems to be something much more deeper than just being tall and cute. IN fact, it only requires one in this particular case. This model is known as Carlyn Valmond from Dominica and she is 5 feet 2 inches tall and from the looks of it, it looks like she will be the winner of this competition.
Yes, this is another year where women from across the Caribbean Island of Dominica come together to compete for Dominica's Next Supermodel competition and only the best of the best will take that title. Here today we have one of the contestants and she is going to give us an insight of who she is and what this competition, in her own words, means to her. BTW Guys she won but this is the interview a week before the final competition. Such a wonderful individual and she has every right, pose, personality and confidence to have won it. :)

Where do we get off not knowing what we have and thinking we know exactly what we should do... by not utilizing what we should? Hmm... I'm sure that you are probably thinking... WHAT the What? Right? Yes, I said it! ;) We are doing things that we shouldn't do simply because we do not know what is in our environment... even though we see them on a day to day basis. And in this regard, I am speaking to my fellow Caribbean Family more specifically to my fellow Dominican people. Not too long ago, I heard a few folks talking about the healing of the nation and why it should be decriminalized. And although I do agree but there are a lot more 'Healings of the Nations' that we don't utilize. Oh.. hehe you thought there was only one healing of the nation? Think Again. Take for instance the Moringa Plant which contains vast amounts of properties that can literally change the course of your very lives to an even healthier life... yet persons don't know about it. This is why we are hear today.


We, here in the Caribbean, should be blessed and grateful for what Jah himself has touched our soils with. The ability to bring forth an abundance of fruits and provisions. Yet we tend to gravitate to meals like KFC, McDonalds and other junk foods. The huge apetite for these meals has caused us to lose sight as to what is important and how we can prevent illnesses like cancers and diabetes from becoming rampant in society. Okay... I get it. You may say that the junk food is cheaper to buy and faster to gobble down. I agree. It also tastes much better to that taste buds but we must become responsible enough to balance out what we eat and having a backyard garden can solve these problems for us. With a little effort and consistency a lot of the health problems that we face today could be solved by Backyard Gardening. Here on BrBpTV Interview, we have an individual who has demonstrated boldly to the masses in Dominica, across the Caribbean and to the rest of the world that this is pretty much the best thing you can do in concern to healthy eating and knowing which foods can cure and prevent certain infections and diseases from taking place. International Model Nicole Morson | BrBpTV Interview

I don't think you guys will fully understand what you are about to witness with the individual here in question. I asked the question on my Facebook Page yesterday, "How does one move from selling DVDs and Popcorn along the roadsides of Dominica to becoming an International Model?" And by that I mean a model who has modeled for some of the biggest Celebrity Designers in the Fashion Business. These guys have designed fashion wear for the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna(those she has worked with) among countless others. Not only that but having the opportunity to hang out with the movers and shakers of the fashion industry as well as hanging with A Class and B Class Celebrities. To top it all of she has modeled in Spain, in Italy, in Paris, in the Caribbean, and in the United States thus far. I mean come on... it doesn't get better than this. I am more than 100% sure that most of you guys reading this, would love to be in that very position. I know I do... ;).


Considering she grew up in the Caribbean Island of Dominica, all she had was a dream and a passion that she fostered the strength to finally try out and look at what she has done and where she has been in a short space of time. I think that is probably one of the biggest moves one can ever make when it comes to a career path that is not of the norm. Not only is it not the norm but in a place where the path she chose isn't something that was taken seriously where she grew up.
Folks it takes guts and motivation to pull off what she is doing presently and this serves as a further reminder to everyone of you out there. If you have a passion to do something, seek God first for guidance, take a step forward and try something. You never know how far a simple try can do. The individuals who are the front runners of today's world started simply by trying something. Of course, there will be No's... in fact... there will be a lot of No's but there will always be that one Yes that will change everything. Trinidadian Jay Square | BrBpTV Interview

Folks.. let me ask you an honest question. What is the perimeter of choice when it comes to doing what you are told versus doing what needs to be done? Does anyone know the answer to this? Well... as clear as the interview is below, my answer goes a little something like this. There can be a great difference. Many of us are called to do something and many of us are called to trend paths so that others can do something. I think in this regard, it goes hand in hand. However, in this day and age that we live many persons simply do what they are told and some don't even question why. Is it because it is easier or that we feel the art of laziness in full effect? The underlining factor here is that we do what needs to be done and do it well regardless of who, what and which circumstance and circumstances that may present itself. Obviously, it's easier said than done right? Initially... but as time progresses, doing becomes easier when words are put into consistent actions. This is what brings us here today and like Dee-1, the hip-hop artist states so truthfully, 'It's time to do a little more walking and less talking'. Unfortunately not everyone thinks so and I believe that sometimes some people need a little encouragement. Surely this is what we, BrBpTV, is here for.


The individual in question is none other than the one and the only Jay Square out of Trinidad and Tobago, who has been at it for 15 years and shows no sign of slowing down. In fact... he has just elevated yet again with a Caribbean tour and album to trend paths, and of course, trend highways too. Hehe Just thought I'd throw that in there! Starting out in Dominica, he met with us at the BrBpTV studios and blessed us with some profound words that, dear I Mystelics say, will cause us to think a little more positively and aid in the progression of sound purpose. Dominica National Youth Awards @BrBpTV

Let us take some time to understand that in the midst of a perfect storm there is still hope. The youths here today, I must say have pretty much defied all odds and have emerged amongst the best of the best to which have been nominated for Dominica's National Youth Awards. I am not sure how you guys feel about this but we, at BrBpTV.com, feel absolutely blessed to have been apart of the ceremony. The powerful talents of the youth were not only applauded but it was also promoted and highlighted at the Award Ceremony.


The Youth Awards was held at the newly designed auditorium at the Dominica State College and in dynamic fashion, the first event of this being held was a true success. Make no bones about it that Youth awards do take place on a National level but the National Youth Council of Dominica saw it fit to take it even a step further were more talented individuals were granted awards in a wider variety of skills. There were just about 60 nominees for this years awards and they came from many different walks of life from all over the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. This is something that is indeed a great step forward in the positive direction especially when we see mainstream news most broadcasting negativism. It's time for a continuous growth in the country where we highlight and further push our youths in doing better, more productive things. With the individuals and nominees present it is indeed great progression as all the seats were packed waiting to see who will win in the respective categories. Q Talent Search - Round One

QTS TALENT SEARCH! The Fourth Edition of this event taking place! I am sure that most of you guys have heard of talent search programs like American Idol, X-factor, Britain's Got Talent or to bring it even closer home, Digicel's Rising Star, where persons from different walks of life go head to head in competitive mood to see who will emerge the victor who takes home the grand prize. It is programs like these that help, make or break individuals as it shuffles out the weaker ones while the best rises to the top. The same thing applies to the competition that the Q-95 Radio Station in partnership with LIME, has to offer in Dominica. Yes, a small island in the Caribbean, between two french islands has taken it upon itself to help find some of the wonderful talent that Dominica has to offer. The Q-Talent Search 2013 is the fourth one of its kind taking place and this is the finale.


The event started somewhere around March of 2013, where individuals would call into the radio station and sing a rendition and get judged on it. Later down, those who made it pass the call-in section would then go to an audition where they would sing in front of some judges while the persons listening over the radio had to vote on whole they thought the best persons were, or simply their favorite via texting. After there would be the semi-finals and then the finals. BrBpTV today is bringing to you the Finals competition! Yes! the grand finale of the competition which took almost 7 months to come to its final conclusion. The winner, or should I say the best of the best or the winner of all these winners will be selected and the bragging rights with everything else it comes with will be taken. The first person to ever win a competition of this sought goes by the name of Asher Thomas from Paix Bouche in 2010. Then we had Shamica Sorhaindo of Roseau in 2011 and the present champ Rachel Jno Baptiste of Goodwill in 2012. Who will be the Q-Talent Search Champion of 2013? The Revolution - Fight for Portsmouth - Land Dispute

It is indeed one thing to hold steadfast to the principles and guidelines of a system that our leaders have put in place to guide us verses the complete disregard of the governing laws of the land set to manipulate and/or even destroy. But what happens when this system turns against itself in total disregard to a just and fair outcome for the people themselves? What would you do in this situation? This question has plague many individuals, especially the minds of the younger generation, and have decided that within their own strengths to do something about it. To often has the governing system failed the people especially when they, the people, put all their faith in it hoping for betterment. Well, for the past 70 years... yes SEVENTY YEARS support has been made, given and teased upon by the people of Portsmouth, particularly Glanvillia, in this regard in hope that the governing body that they put to govern them yet... if you ask them what has been done for the development, majority will say not much or as most that we've talked to would say, "Nothing".
The young people have decided that enough is enough and because of their unity to the elder folks revolution has begun. The cause of the matter at hand is of great concern not only for the people of Glanvillia but for the people of Portsmouth as well. No longer will they be bombarded with scared thoughts of knowing or forming the realization in belief, that this is how things are and will never change.


BrBpTV brings to you an upcoming revolution that begs 'just tyranny' of this system. Like in the case of George Zimmerman verses Trayvon Martin, when the people seek justice they expect to get it. Will this be another unjust move by the governing system or will true justice finally prevail. Let us take a look and give a close ear to the issue that gave rise to this upcoming revolution as the people would put it. We, at BrBpTV, believe in the power of the people and when it comes down to betterment of the people there is nothing more positive and real about that.
