DOMINICA CARNIMAS 2018 FT PATRICE ROBERTS ASA BANTAN TRIPLE KAY AND MUCH MORE

Carnimas is a fusion of Christmas and the Carnival festivities of sorts coming together as one. This is the very first of its kind in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. Featuring in this Carnimas show was none other than the Trinidadian Soca singer, Patrice Roberts, the Bouyon boss Asa Bantan, Bouyon Kings Triple Kay International, Jamaica's very own Danja Dane and lots more came out to this event. A one of a kind in the Caribbean that fused so many hype genres that it was virtually impossible to not have a good time at this event.

DOMINICAN CITIZENS CALLING ON GOVERNMENT FOR ELECTORAL REFORM

One thing that we know is important for any society to function freely and fairly to establish an equal and fair ground. As Dominica is now within its election/political season, electoral reform is what's being asked for by the citizens of Dominica. What is electoral reform you may ask? Electoral Reform is what gives the right set of people, the right to vote within a fair timeframe and thus justifies who the people want to be their next Prime Minister and this is what brings these individuals, though few in number for now, a reason to voice their concerns to the public and this is what is required for Electoral Reform. Electoral Reform has not been done since in the 90s so it is high time that this is done.

DOMINICA HEALTHCARE: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

Healthcare is one of the foundations of an elevating and striving economy but when it comes down to healthcare in the Caribbean, especially in Dominica, can we say that we are truly getting better? We took to the streets of Roseau, Dominica, the capital city, to find out from persons what they thought about Dominica Healthcare, especially considering that a prominent member of society fell victim behind his wheels and is fighting for his life. We are always accustom of hearing the phrase, "Fly them out" instead of, "We got this covered". Does this ring true? Let us find out what the people of Dominica have to say.

DOMINICA UWP OPPOSITION LEADER SPEAKS OUT AFTER COURT APPEARANCE

The Leader of the Opposition was taken to court by the state with charges of Incitement. The most interesting part of all of this is, when asked why were these charges brought against him and a few others, there is absolutely no concrete proof of this and why incitement was the charge, in the first place. What is being said however, is largely due to what took place after a public meeting which was held in Roseau by the United Workers Party, Team Dominica. After the public meeting, and individuals were bid goodbyes and safe journeys, there were burnings and breaking in of public property and somehow this got pinned to Lennox Linton, Edison James, Joseph Isaac and a few others, even though most of them had already gone home. Regardless, the court case for incitement was called and this is what Lennox Linton, leader of the Opposition in Dominica, had to say.

LADY RESCUED FROM BIZARRE FLOOD CONDITIONS IN DOMINICA

The Hurricane season in the Caribean starts from June to November and when you think nature will keep in line with what it has given us... it comes back again to say, "Hey... I'm back!!" and there is not much we can do about it. Heavy hurricane flood conditions came about just after the hurricane season 2018 and to our surprise, brought back the likes of what Hurricane Maria did to us during the Hurricane Season of 2017. It brought some serious floods and many persons lost their lives because of the dreaded floods. Now, we are back to square one and mother nature is back for some more punishment.

DOMINICA CULTURAL GALA 2018

I am sure we all love to see the displays and the dances and the rythms of different cultures across the world. None of which, in my opinion, compares to the love and untouched respect that the Dominican people have for their culture. The way they move and act, it is almost impossible to miss a beat. In every way, shape, age, size, color and yes... rhythm, Dominica takes the cake for culture in the Caribbean. Dominica is one of the best places to witness this why? well... unlike other islands, Dominica dedicated a whole month of competition between themselves to bring forth the best of the best on this Cultural Gala Stage. So yes, Dominica takes it but you don't have to take my word for it, see for yourself below.

DOMINICA 2018 INDEPENDENCE MILITARY PARADE MARCH PASS PART 1 & 2

Dominica's Independence is hands down one of the best times to be in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. Why? because leading up to this prestigious event is a whole month of pulsating culture and rhythm that showcases the best of the best of what makes Dominica, Dominica. The Independence marks a finale to this and to visitors both from Dominica and/or abroad, it cements what it truly means to be Dominican. Though we are still very much on the road to recovery, it does not stop us from shining and shining as brightly as possible with what we have been given. Dominica to the World!!! Happy Independence Dominica.

NIGHT 3 DOMINICA WORLD CREOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2018

Wonderful! Is the word that comes to mind when I think of the World Creole Music Festival 2018 and this is as a result of a job well done! Considering Dominica, the country the festival is held, faced a category 5 hurricane that almost wiped out the island just over a year ago! Facing the destruction of over 95% of the island and a year later, the event which was cancelled in 2017 was a success this year. Thousands upon thousands of persons swarmed into the Windsor Park Stadium for 3 nights of pulsating music, riddim, culture, food and of course entertainment across the board.
We BrBpTV, were present for all 3 nights but in this article we bring to you Night 3. Performing on the line up of this episode was Dominica very own Michele Henderson, and Carlyn XP; Chronixx out of Jamaica; Kes the Band out of Trinidad and Tobago and Sweet Micky out of Haiti. These powerful artists brought nothing but artistry to the stage with a little bit of controversy from Sweet Micky.  That itself was something... unique... to say it nicely on the WCMF Stage on Sunday.
Surely, everyone gathered had a great time and for those who made it for all 3 nights, we know that they had a blast but you don't have to take our word for it, we went out to find out what persons during the night 3 session had to say and they definitely had words to share.
The inventors(previous regime) and forecasters of this event, definitely saw the vision that this event would be long lasting and on its 20th year it has been blossoming. We can't wait to see what next year has to offer and wish you too, will be there as well. If there is one thing that this event has taught us is that come hurricane or no hurricane, Dominicans are strong and determined people and we, no matter the struggle(internal or externally), will continue to rise! ROSS UNIVERSITY LEAVING DOMINICA? DOMINICA STREET SHOUT 2018

Since the passage of Hurricane Maria in Dominica in 2017, there has been a lot things going on. Surely we know that more than 90% of the little glorious nature island was destroyed and thus putting things back into place was and still is a great task. Although some progress has been made, we may be yet on the verge of another Hurricane Maria! This one, my friends, has absolutely nothing to do with Mother Nature in itself but the mother of Economic sustainability in Dominica.
To add insult to injury, we are now hearing that the Ross University School of Medicine, one of the largest contributors to Dominica's GDP(Gross Domestic Product/Profit), roughly 40%, is about to leave the island! There are on going talks amongst the Bosses of the Ross University that may be really and truly be considering leaving. Not only that but there are other countries who, seeing the demise of the country, see it as an opportunity to reel in Ross University to come to their shores. It is truly a dog eat dog world out there my friends. Many speculations as to why this has and is happening by the Dominican community and thus BrBpTV went out into the streets to find out from the people of Portsmouth, Dominica, what they have to say in this regard and what they think will happen and can be done if the Ross University were to leave the beautiful Nature Isle of the Caribbean.

R.D.P.S. GOVERNMENT SCHOOL PROTESTS AGAINST DOMINICA SPORTS DIVISION- NO RDPS NO FINALS 2018!!!

"NO RDPS...NO FINALS!!!!" says the entire population of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School on the court of the Portsmouth Benjamin Park yesterday. When I mean entire population, I don't mean this in any figurative form  or manner because by entire population... the staff, the students, the parents and those in attendance came out to be a part of this move! Obviously, something has to be wrong here... but what really spark this protest in the first place you may ask? Let's take a look shall we? 

Firstly, we must understand what is taking place here on the grounds. The Portsmouth St. John's Primary School was scheduled to play a game of netball against the Marigot Primary School on this very court at around 2:30PM. This was in fact the finals for which these two teams were competing against to see who would be victorious but were unable to do so due to the interruption of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School better known as R.D.P.S. which was formerly known as the Government School in Portsmouth. Seems unfair that this would happen so why would they interrupt a game that has very little to nothing to do with them? I mean... are they the ones playing in the finals? NO! Were they invited to watch this match? Not to my knowledge... so why all this protest and tension? This is why BrBpTV is here today to find out what really happened and for this we would invite you to have a look at the video below.

Surely, this protest was in no way shape of form meant to cause harm but in fact to pass a message to the officials who they deemed to have done them severely wrong and by right they should apologize for it. For a school that believes in the right to be fair and in standing by one of the very pillars of fairness that holds up the school, we BrBpTV see why this protest was necessary!

DOMINICA HURRICANE RESISTANT HOUSING DEVELOPMENT 2018 GROUNDBREAKING

It would seem that just the other day, we were back on this very lot protesting for the promises that was said to be had by the Glanvillia people for what is known as Promise Ville. This, my friends, was somewhat five years ago. Click RIGHT HERE for the video. The people were really furious considering that they had been support a particular party for over half a decade and promises after promises were made that were never fulfilled. What did come from the protest you may ask? Not much but it did however make the concerns of the Glanvillia people known across the region.

From since that time everything went quiet and now 5 years later, we see a little movement in the dark. It has been a long time coming since we have talked about development and the progress of development here in the North of Dominica and thus welcoming it is most assuredly a step in the right direction. In 2017 however, Hurricane Maria hit Dominica will her full strength putting a serious strain on the economy whereby 95% of the country was destroyed. But as gleaming hope always surfaces, we have been brought here today. Now I understand that one thing government all over are known for doing is vain babbling and making empty promises... but I would just like to say that it is good thing to see some level of action being undertaken. The groundbreaking ceremony here in Glanvillia has happened as well as timing given for the completion of projects. We will be watching as time goes by to see the advancement of the Dominica Housing Development project and how it will cope with and in or present situation of the Hurricane Season.

JAZZ N CREOLE IN DOMINICA 2018 HIGHLIGHTS

One thing there is to know about Dominica is that any time you visit, there is always something to do in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean.  Whether it be going hiking through the valley of Desolation and unto the second largest boiling lake in the world or going to the river, beach or the the sulphur springs to relax, you will have fun. But one thing Dominica is known for is for the phenomenal events that it holds and this is what brings us here today. Jazz and Creole 2018 is one of the events that brings persons from all over the island, and globe by extension, for an unforgettable experience... yet can you believe that this event almost did not take place?!!!
Surely, I'm certain that most of you guys could have possibly heard of one of the world strongest hurricanes passing through the Nature Isle, leaving it in utter dismay on September the 18th 2017. This is why one of the greatest events to be held in Dominica was cancelled; the World Creole Music Festival and it almost spilled over to this year's Jazz and Creole, 7 months after. When April came around, all hopes of having Jazz n Creole was at an all time zero... but as fate would have it, in the early days of May, hope and share will brought the organizers together and pushed through the obstacles for the event to be held on May the 20th. What may have seemed to be somewhat of a dead letter was brought back to life and in fabulous fashion as well! With the likes of Michele Henderson(Dominica), Kenny Mohammad(Diaspora), Xavier Strings(Trinidad), Extasy Band(Dominica) and much more, put on a great show so a round of applause goes out to all those who made it possible.

This event to us here at BrBpTV, and I'm sure to the many who were gathered at the Fort Shirley National Park here in Portsmouth, felt that this year was the best Jazz and Creole held so far! Despite mother nature's plight against us.... We still won! This event continues to bring persons from all ages and walks of life together and even if to just share in the Ambience of the atmosphere, it provides a safe haven for the love of music and people.

KALINAGO TERRITORY 8 MONTHS AFTER HURRICANE MARIA PASSED THROUGH DOMINICA

One of the saddest state of affairs is when mother nature comes with her full force to bring havoc to a nation. Not just a nation though, but a nation full of life and vibrant people! Last year, Hurricane Maria, swept through the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica, leaving it in utter dismay and destruction. The persons living on the Island were shocked at the sight that they woke up to the next morning as they sifted through the destruction looking to salvage whatever they could. A few months down the line, persons have been working tirelessly to ensure that they could somehow bring back a certain level of normalcy and eight months later, here we are in the Kalinago Territory.
The Kalinago Territory, formerly known as the Carib Territory, is situated some what north yet eastern side of Dominica, where the Amerindians(Caribs) settled. After Hurricane Maria swept through the island, a number of individuals were very concerned about this part of the small but mountainous island. Many individuals came to the aid of the Kalinago people and some assistance and some progress has been made. However, the question still stands, 'Are the Kalinago people, and Dominica by extension, ready for the upcoming Hurricane Season 2018. The season, my friends is less than a month away and this is what the Carib Territory looks like eight months after the Category 5 hit the island.

DOMINICA RDPS VS SMP FOOTBALL 2018 FINALS

There are a number of things that we know here in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica, and that is for which talent rains and reign supreme! Not only here in Dominica, but across the Caribbean. The uniqueness that we contribute to the world by far, outweighs unilateral thought. However, Dominica is the key focus today so Dominica it is! Dominica is one of the small Caribbean Islands which harnesses very little resources by which it enables its talent to be utilized. In other words, skillset is under utilized in my country! :'( Take for example the Dominican bikers who left to go to St Lucia and won most of their drag races defying the odds. Dominica doesn't have a strip where bikers can practice or anything of that sort yet still, within its odds(including Hurricane Maria's destruction on the island), Dominica still showed up and showed out! This brings us to yet another talent found here, today, this one found in the smallest of youths.
For as long as I have lived, I have seen and heard of great players playing the game of football. Whether it be on the international, regional and local stages. I have always dreamt of seeing Dominica rise to the occasion by which it is able to reckon with the international star countries but no matter how we try, it never seems to happen which brings us to the youth! THERE IS HOPE HALLELUJAH and they are found in our Primary Schools on island! These primary school boys playing here today are vying for the title of Champions for 2018 at the Dominica Primary School Football Finals and, dare I say, these guys are freaking good! Some have even compared their skillset to be far better than some of the older ones on island. Kudos goes out the the coaches for their dedicated effort in ensuring that the local youth may just have a fighting chance on the international stage. I saw The local Portsmouth RDPS School boys at practice at the Benjamin Park.... so you know I was eager to be at the Finals to see them play against the other team. Roosevelt Douglas Primary School (better known as RDPS) versus the St. Mary's Primary School (better known as SMP) were sure to put on a show for those in attendance at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium and now we are happy to bring to you some of the highlights that took place! Enjoy!

DOMINICAN COMMUNITIES RECEIVE RELIEF ITEMS FROM THE U.S.!

Act of Kindness Mission Ministries based in Dayton, Texas felt the need to contribute relief supplies to one of the small islands of the Caribbean known as Dominica affected by Hurricane Maria. Upon hearing the news through one of its members, Mr. Lewis Romain, who is from the Nature Isle, they felt moved with compassion to aid Dominica. Dominica was recently hit by one of the strongest hurricanes known in history and it goes by the name of Maria; a category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Maria had wind gusts going all the way up to 260 miles per hour and as its eye passed over the center most part of the island, it uprooted and destroyed everything in its path. That night when Maria came to Dominica and as the Diasporans sat home watching Dominica go through its greatest disaster, all hope seemed lost when all of a sudden all communications on island went completely dead! The International Media News circuits were all stating that it was all over for Dominica and indeed it was. As morning broke the fears of the night and Maria was already long gone, it was as if Dominica was sent back into the 18th century with the high level of destruction, death and sorrow that followed. No one, not even the news weather professionals in the international arena, expected such a destruction. Why? because it was predicted that the Hurricane would only reach category 2 and increase speeds after it passed over Dominica. Oh how false that was... because Maria Jumped from a Tropical Storm over the Atlantic to a category 5 Hurricane in less than 24 hours! But thank God because it could have been much worse. The sense of emergency on island, brought in individuals and organizations from far and wide. The Act of Kindness Mission Ministries were one of those, and through the efforts of Mr. Romain, some additional relief was provided to communities around the island.

TRINIDADIAN POSITIVE LIVE IN DOMINICA 2018 (EASTER SUNDAY 2018)

One thing we love here in the Caribbean is our reggae, soca, dancehall and bouyon music. Okay... that's more than one mbut... we love our Caribbean music. It brings joy to us and showcases our love and passion in art. The beauty of this, in addition to the already said beautiful things is when that music is coupled under positive and/or gospel lyrical content. It is Easter Sunday, a day set aside to remember the death burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What better place is there than to celebrate with other like minded individuals who see this time fitting to give thanks? NO WHERE ELSE! hehe Though there were other activities taking place around the island, I would chose this event every time! Positive the Trinidadian Reggae Artist came to the Nature Isle of the Caribbean to help its people celebrate Easter 2018. Blessing up the Stage were also Sernel, the dominican Bouyon solo artist, Sanctified and Solace also from Dominica. DOMINICA BIKERS DEFINITELY LEFT THEIR MARK IN ST. LUCIA YET AGAIN! @BrBpTV Interviews

It is one thing when your people do not accept you due to a certain false dogma on something but entering into a different country and seeing a totally different side. Funny thing about that is both countries are similar in almost all of its ways. I am speaking on the islands of Dominica and St lucia. These two islands are pretty much the same and even the people speak very similarly in many ways but the defining point is known as The Bike Life. Whereas Dominica looks down on bikes and bikers, St lucia looks to elevate and further produce even more bikers. For the enthusiasts of Dominica, going to St lucia was like going into bike paradise and for this reason we are here today! Mystelics from Mystelics Vlogs asked his audience if they would like to an interview with the bikers as they left St. Lucia and they quickly demanded that it needs to be done. Dominican bikers went down to St lucia for St Lucia's 39th Independence Celebration and guess what they did to celebrate. They went down with their bikes to meet up with other Caribbean Islands who also went to St Lucia with their bikes to celebrate. If you haven't caught on yet, St Lucia celebrates its Independence including bikers and bike enthusiasts and that in itself brings out even more revenue to the island. This is what the Dominican Bikers had to say on their experience in St Lucia!

DOMINICANS DO DRAG RACING IN ST LUCIA FT CARIBBEAN ISLANDS

Dominica? Drag Racing? Honestly, these are just two things don't seem to go together at all... Why? Because there isn't any type of facility or near possibility that will lead the way for Dominicans to be a partaker in any of these events. If a Dominican wants to be a part of these events, and be successful at it, he/she would most likely need to go overseas. However, in places like St lucia, they do have these facilities and I'm sure other caribbean countries do as well, so you'd expect them to be ahead... or so we thought. Problem with that sentiment is... they weren't ahead! Dominicans were still whooping butt in the different races! Which brings me to the conclusion that all the illegal road races paid off! Yes, I too am guilty for racing on the roads in Dominica but can you blame enthusiasts when nothing is being done to accommodate us? So I have to attribute the success of Dominica here today to illegal road races.
Here in St lucia, there were different Caribbean Islands coming to meet on the stretch/strip down in Vieux Fort, to see who had the top speeds and could hold.. a possible record or two. Friendly competitions between bikes, cars, and cars vs bikes rested on the stretch while forging relations of like-mindedness towards that thrill of personnels who came, partook and marvelled at each other in preparation for the next event. T'was a very successful event indeed and I too was very happy to be a part of it!

NEW DOMINICA CALYPSO FINALS 2018 RESULTS & WINNER EMERGES

Let's all admit here... for those who were seriously paying attention to what was going on in the Calypso Arena at the Newtown Savannah in Dominica, we have to give it up to the organizers. After coming from and surviving hurricane Maria and what Dominica went through to get this show ready? Come on... the organizers of the Calypso Committee rose to the occasion so huge respects goes out to you guys.
Now, we bring to you the Calypso Finals result here in Dominica but before you scroll down, I must say, Dominica has the BEST CARIBBEAN Calypso hands down and for these guys to reach to the level that they did? It took a lot of hard work and dedication! As I said in a previous article, we Dominicans take our Calypso and Creole very very seriously and for the other CAribbean Islands that do calypso, they also do a great job but I'm giving it to Dominica based of what i've heard so far.
Today brings us to the day of the Final Calypso Competition that will be held for 2018 and in my books, everyone's a winner; even the former King, who for some reason could not continue his performance but he too was phenomenal in what he showcased. DOMINICA CALYPSO FINALS 2018, WHO WILL WIN? @BrBpTV Street SHOUT

We have taken over the streets of Roseau, the capital city of Dominica, to find out what persons think and have to say on Dominica's Calypso Season 2018, its songs, and who will win the Calypso Finals this year. From the offset of things, there seems to have been a lot of mixed reactions on who will win and you know what that means right? That this is a great thing! Why? because it shows that calypsonians have chosen to step up their game! See... to challenge the likes of King Dice(8 time winner) and King Karessah(2017 Calypso King), you have to come good to beat these guys. Trust me when I say, the competition is really tight with some calypsonians coming back with rebuttals on the kings! haha! You have to love calypso! It's not only about the calypsonians who do a great job of delivering the performances though, we must also give huge kudos and props to the songwriters as well. It is they who take their time out to study and see what best way is their to portray thought to song and the artist singing it to deliver it perfectly. Just listening to the lyrical content this year... it sounds like everyone is coming for each others necks... in friendly competition of course.
We set out to find out which calypsonian has the most support thus far based of the songs that they put forth and we look toward seeing who will take the Calypso Finals 2018 crown here in Dominica. This is what individuals had to say in BrBpTV Street Shout. Enjoy!
