DOMINICA CALYPSO MONARCH FINALS 2020 HIGHLIGHTS

OH! but for the sweet love of calypso... for we are gathered here today brothers and sistrens, for yet another year of what may seem to have been an unbelievable journey thus far. The 365 days has passed since the last Calypso Finals and I think most people will agree with me when I say, "For it is by his grace we have made it through! Hallelujah" Dominica is now well within its post election season and our calypsonians are taking no prisoners when it comes to love of country. And for those of you who may not know, calypso sheds great light on what goes on in a country, through music and melody, and sometimes there is comedy involved as well. A simple play on words, a little dabbling on the fences of our (...Oh so dear...) leaders and a little troublemaking can be as a result of this competition. 9 calypsonians have been selected to challenge the crown of the 9 times calypsonian king, King Dice... so you know all gears are on! King Dice is definitely one of, if not the toughest contender in this arena so he is definitely one to beat. I mean... 9 crowns says a lot, but who knows, in this chess game, the Queen may just give up her King! Now we saw the power of the contenders at the Semi Finals, and we are going to see them charge head first against the best of the "bestest" and amongst each other. Ten well able-bodied calypsonians, armed with their gut, stage presence, lyrical content and a few props to tell a story, but only one will emerge victorious here at the Windsor Park Calypsonian Octagon.

DOMINICA CALYPSO SEMI-FINALS 2020 HIGHLIGHTS

Just recently we brought to you the Dominica Junior Monarch 2020 Calypso Competition and today we bring to you the highlights of yet another Calypso Competition, the Dominica Calypso Semi-Finals for 2020! One thing we know for certain is that calypso plays a vital role in who we are as a Caribbean people but more importantly, who we are as Dominicans. It tends to shed light on the ills and troubles, concerns and ponders, and the regrets and thoughts of our society and on ourselves as a whole. It is said if you want to know how well a country is doing, listen to its calypsos! Do you agree? Doesn't it make you ponder on the state of affairs in our societies today and if we are, in fact, making any form of progress as the years go by. If not... like that of the Junior Monarchy, we need to do something about it! But competition, of course, is very tight at the Semi-Finals and as some of our best head to head, pound-for-punch-line pounders go into octagon, 20 calypsonians go in but only 9 will make it through to the Finals! So as we sit and watch the best of the best, so far in the competition, challenge each other, reigning Calypso King, King Dice, the 9 time King of the arena, is waiting to defend his title and take home the crown for the tenth time at the Dominica Calypso Finals 2020 Competition coming up in the next few weeks.

DOMINICA JUNIOR MONARCH CALYPSO 2020 COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS

Dominica Junior Monarch Calypso Competition of 2020 kicked off last night in dynamic fashion and I must say that I was quite impressed! Especially with the lyrical content and the executions of it by the youth. It only goes to show how much talent that we have in our youth and I believe we, as a country, should DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! The powerful messages brought on that stage last night not only spoke and still speaks to our present situation, but it gives an insight as to what the youth is thinking about themselves and their environment and I think it's high time that our leaders give a listening ear and take action. It is their future that is being played with here. One of the lyrics that resonated with me was that of the young calypsonian, De Essence, who sang the song, 'Bring Back JSP'. It made me ponder on the state of our education. I don't think we as a people have come to terms that sometimes we are pushing our youth into a schooling system that does not cater to their needs. And by that I mean not everyone is academically incline or wants to choose the path of academics but that's all we are giving them in our education system. We do definitely need to bring back JSP so that others can have the opportunity to learn skills that they most likely will find interest in. I remember just after Hurricane Maria, the government was looking for carpenters and artisans, and had to send for and bring in foreigners because there was a shortage of skilled workers or certain skill set were not available on island, to help in the recovery efforts. This is why this songs like these need to be amplified and steps should be taken to bring back this program. There are countless other powerful messages brought about by our young junior calypsonians of Dominica last night so do have a listen to te BrBpTV highlights of the Dominica Junior Monarch Calypso Competition at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica. Enjoy!

HOUSTON AFRO-CARIBBEAN PRAISE JAM 2019 Ft JERMAINE EDWARDS & MUCH MORE

Houston Afro-Craibbean Praise Jam is all about giving praise to the Most High for what he has done in our lives. Let us never forget that many of us would not be where we are right now if it wasn't for the grace and mercy of God. I know I can testify that most, if not all, of my life is surrounded by total grace and it is always a good thing to give thanks and praise for that. Even if its to say "Oh" according to Kirk Franklin, an Oh is all you need to give when it comes down to praise if that's all you can do. God deserves our praises so let's give it to him. Featured on the Praise Jam stage was none other than Jermaine Edwards out of Jamaica; Emrand Henry out of St Lucia; Neesha Woodz out of Barbados; J-Cro out of Dominica and lots more, especially the Nigerian and American Family. Joanne Prince was the main organizer of this event and she did a marvelous job to make this, second of its kind, to become a reality. happen

BRITISH JOSS STONE PERFORMS LIVE WITH DOMINICA MICHELE HENDERSON

The well known British soul singer, Joss Stone, came and performed a number of her songs live and in the flesh in Dominica at the Alliance Francaise Hall in Roseau. She also featured Michele Henderson, one of Dominica's very own soulful and powerful performers and singers where they also came together to do a few duets together. It's so pleasing when our own gets to feature others in the homeland and be a part of something far more bigger than themselves. See music isn't just about performing or singing or playing an instrument. It's the ability to manipulate songs that can touch hearts, minds, body and definitely soul. Music is the only thing when it hits you, you feel it but you don't feel any pain. This is a BrBpTV amateur compilation of that night. Do enjoy.

A one of a kind in the Caribbean that fused so many hype genres that it was virtually impossible to not have a good time at this event.

Dominica SERNEL performs his 2017 HIT ATTENTION

God is good, all the time and All the time, God is still Good. Amen and Amen to that but let me draw your attention to something. If God is good to you and me... shouldn't we give me all the glory and praise that is due unto him? Why yes... I do believe it should be so... unless I am wrong and you know this to be untrue, then please do let me know. But I believe where God has given us life and breathe it is our responsibility to do so. And this is why I believe Sernel has brought us here today. Bringing to our attention what needs to be brought and that is the truth. Sernel speaks so in his new release song; and you guessed it, 'Attention'. This is the very first time he is going to perform this song and we at BrBpTV were there to ensure that justice was given to his performance.

Sernel not only fused contemporary art in music but speaks the truth that has been told from centuries ago in his music. Talk about bridging the old with the new right? But this still doesn't change the message that what's true is still true. God lives, he reigns and its time for us to take heed to what Sernel has to say in his new fire song called 'Attention'.

Live Jazz and Creole Festival 2016 Concert Dominica

Jazz festivals are increasingly becoming a favored must-go event, especially across the Caribbean Islands. The wonderful thing about this is, these types of events like in the Webisode below, is for everyone! This to me is the most exciting part because everyone gets to share in and hear a piece of Jazz and by piece, I mean a whole lot. The Jazz and Creole festival doesn't only come with the musical artistry of the artists alone but the atmosphere is also one of invitation to all walks, sizes and ages. Moreover, the young ones get exposed to this musical art forms at an early age and thus end up participating in and loving it. In this format, they gain an understand of jazz that can only increase as they get older so it's a win-win for everyone. The kiddies also get to be kids at the playground- bouncy castle set up for them to play in. Food is also a huge part of this Jazz and Creole celebration and there you will find some of the best meals but you don't have to take my word for it, I will let the patrons speak for themselves.
What has been taking place all over the world has been a quickly growing part of the Caribbean Dominican people for quite some time. From the onset of jazz music mixed with creole comes the live Jazz and Creole Festival 2016 taking place at the Fort Shirley National Park known as the Cabrits National Park in Portsmouth, Dominica. The Jazz and Creole Concert 2016 comprised of Jazz artists like Soft, Cameron Pierre with Breve, Andy Carell Quartet, Cadence All Stars and more. Have a look at the Webisode below, leave yoru views and come join up with us NEXT YEAR!

DEVINE PLANS ON GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP ON BrBpTV Interview

What happens when you follow your dreams? What happens when you are tired doing things that have absolutely nothing to do with your pursuit to happiness? Have you ever felt like doing much more than you are doing but don't know how or what to do? Well, this isn't an informercial, so we don't "got all the answers" unfortunately. :'( But what we do know is that with the first step, there is progress and the only thing left to do is to take yet another step forward. This has been the mark of every successful person who has chosen to utilize their own abilities despite of. Leonardo da Vinci took that first step and painted the Mona Lisa... no he didn't! He first had to draw sticks men before he got to create The Mona Lisa and this is why we are here today. To talk about paintings? No... but to speak MUSIC! SideNote - I probably should have made reference to a musical artist rather than a legendary painter right? I agree :) But you get the point.
Devine Songs is the artist name, the reggae artist out of Dominica, who fills every lyrical content and rhythm with nothing but love and a conscious vibe. When his vocal box unfolds, the sweet melody of reggae captivates, especially he ladies, who quickly fall in love with his passion. The artist Devine Songz is here with us today on BrBpTV Interview to speak to us on his rise to being the Devine Songz he is today and also on the gigantic leap of having Grammy Award winning Gramps Morgan from the Morgan Heritage Family featured on one of his phenomenal hits, 'Many Waters'. In addition, Devine is known around the world via his musical artistry and DJ-ing skills on the Carnival Cruise Lines. There he does live performances both on the ship and on the ground. Presently, he is in Dominica and had a few performances which we will definitely let you be a part of. Show Devine some love below and check out his interview with us.

RECAP of 2014: BrBpTV Compilation

OH MY GOODNESS! 2014 has come and gone like Usain Bolt breaking yet another record at the Olympics meet in stunting-ly quick fashion! Okay, I must admit, it did take about 365 and a quarter days to complete but let's face it, at one pointing time, we were just celebrating New Year's 2014 no? Yes we were! and as my mother would say, "Just the other day". Now we are coming to the close of that same year in what seemed only to be the twinkling of an eye(kind of reminds you of the rapture doesn't it? ;)). I spoke to a neighborhood friend of BrBpTV yesterday, and she said, "Soon enough we will be celebrating New Year's for 2016". Time truly does not wait, no matter how much we may try to slow it down it just does not want to wait. Talk about impatience right? hehe. I'm kidding. The year goes by and bye each time we take a breath and this is why we ought not to waste time frontin' the little stuff. Make moves of make excuses. Sometimes, I say that I am dreaming... please tell me I am dreaming! Considering that trend of thought, we may dream dreams but let's make sure we dream them into reality by allowing our actions to follow suit. Because one thing that the time passing of 2014 has taught us is that talking is just that... talking.
Surely, 2014 has been unknown like any other in Dominica and Dominicans as well as all those who partook in what she(Waiti Kubuli) had to offer knows for certain that 2014 has brought about an unforgettable time. We, at BrBpTV, pride ourselves in the promotion of positive vibrations so we tried our best to cover as much events as we could that fosters what we are about. For this cause we are looking back at 2014 and "vibezing" on some of the greatest activities that took place that year. We had a lot to look through but in the creation of this Episode Compilation we managed to bring you FIVE categories that stood out this year which made 2014 so memorable. We do hope that you guys fall in love with this Episode as we did. Have a HAPPY and Prosperous 2015 and remember, by God, to make 2015 count.

Dominica Unashamed Gospel Concert

Unashamed.. unashamed... unashamed. The duty to be unashamed is very, very sad especially when you are obligated to represent someone or something to the best of your abilities and you see mizeh a.k.a fail miserably. Picture this! Your boss wants you to represent the business in a forum that will determine the further development of that business or its potential flop. Now, at mind's thought process, I am sure most of us will try to convince our bosses that this isn't the right job for you. It just might be too much for us to handle right? Ah! Yes... Now you get the picture. Now considering those brave soldiers of the business who feel that there is nothing that will stop them from taking on that challenge so they take on that task. They study, do research and do all what is necessary to ensure that they not only put the business in a favorable light but an outstanding light. If they are successful, the business will move forward and of course there is a huge reward awaiting for that individual. This is what being unashamed really means. To go out there, no matter what the outcome, and putting on the best possible representation to win the heart and minds of the audience. This is what this concert here on BrBpTV was about.

Now I have heard of the international unashamed gospel concert with cats like lecrea, andy mineo, trip lee, flame, tedashii and these other cats tearing up the place under the hip hop anthem. This however is the Caribbean version of that. It took place at LongHouse in Portsmouth and to my own expectations of events happening in Portsmouth was indeed a great experience to be a part of. Organized by the New Light Ministries of Portsmouth to not only show proper representation of God himself and the joy that he gives but to also aid in raising funds for a greater cause than the concert itself. Unity is indeed strength and we had different bands from all over the island to come in to aid in the phenomenal cause. I had a great time at the concert and I know those present also had a phenomenal time. Unashamed of the gospel of Christ and the joy that he brings in the hearts and minds of all those who trust him and believe. Have a look of how it went down that night.

Blessing after Blessing Concert: Positive

There is something that we all must account for when it comes down to music and that is it's ability to unify. Unity in what aspect or within what realm? It is as simple as counting baby lambs jumping over fences at night time. Okay... maybe not in this format but... think of it as commonality or common ground. I believe it was Martin Luther King Jr as well as the Great Book which gives the relevance, "A people divided against themselves cannot stand". I believe this with all my heart and it is because of this why I believe in hope. There is but one hope and that is in God. In a time where everything may seem to be dwindled within the scopes of negativism and the portrayal of modern day media further helping to instigate it, is not something that aids in the motivation to the right direction. In fact it brings yet further division while the same mediums hypocritical stand as a "Fight to unit the people". In what way? Do you know? Well... I don't.

What I do know is, if you were to believe it or not, we are not ashamed to be different as we further push realness and positivity which is the assembling of unity itself. Speaking about positivity, the Blessing and Blessing Concert has landed on the shores of Dominica. Wondering what it is? Well, of course, we will not leave you in the darkness at all. Positivity to the fullest is the inspiration of the featured artist of the night and he is so motivated, he calls himself, "Positive". He hails from the wonderful islands of Trinidad and Tobago and brags humbly to the cause for which he is named. Joel Murray is the name and he promotes gospel reggae to the maximum. He is known for many songs across the Caribbean. Songs like Highest of Heights, Only in the Ghetto, Let Me Be The One, Never Let Go, Rock of my Life featuring Dj Nicholas and many others. In 2013, he released a single called, 'Blessing after Blessing' and it made the number 1 single across the Caribbean for a number of weeks leading up to the Carnival Season. It has a Soca tune to it(Trinidadian massive stand up) and it will definitely keep you on your toes. Positive came up to Dominica, the Nature Island of the Caribbean, to collaborate on stage with the local artists of Dominica to bring forth one of the best positive concerts for the year 2014 thus far- the Blessing after Blessing Concert. Talk about unity? no! :) We will show you what unity looks like. Enjoy! I know I did at this Caribbean Concert. :)

World Creole Music Festival Friday

World Creole Music Festival? What is that you may ask? For those who don't know let us get down into the nitty gritty of things. First of all the World Creole Music Festival falls pretty much in the best of the year. WHy is that? Simply because it's during the Creole Season of course and in my opinion(I'm sure many of you share the same sentiments), it is a time where Creole forms under the theme of unity. Unity being the ideal aspect of the Creole Season which by the way leads up to the Independence Season, another fantastic time of the year. You see? I told you it is the best time of the year. :) The mere fact that you are thinking about creole, you think of mixture and it is a time where everyone settles out their difference and comes together in unity to enjoy life and the freedom that comes with it. If you don't believe me ask anyone in Dominica. Yes, Dominica is where it is at during the month of October and of course persons from all over the globe flock towards Dominica during that time. Maybe now you get a picture of how important this event and time means to us. It's a celebration of true freedom, mixture, colors, food and of course music which brings us here today.

The World Creole Music Festival also known as WCMF, indeed has to be the highest form of entertainment in Dominica for the festival Season and in part the rest of the Caribbean. This is an event that runs for 3 days during the last weekend of October after the whole week event of the well known Creole in the Park. The creole of music, or should I say, the mixture in music brings to the Dominican shores various artists of Caribbean decent from the international, regional and local walks. This year celebrates the 17th WCMF 2013 and the theme said was the promotion of our Dominican local acts.. of course accompanied by the well known heads in music both from the international and regional spectrum. The Episode that you are about to see it nothing short but of wonder and excitement and persons coming together of different race, background, place, and language. You might think, "...but wait, how it is possible to have some many persons coming together and they don't share the same culture?" Well my friends, brothers and sisters, music is a universal language and spoken by the artists present it is clear to see that the gap amongst these variations, was no match and an easy bridge to gap. After all, Creole does mean mixture and in this mixture here at the first night of the World Creole Music Festival 2013, we find complete unity. But...:) Don't take my word for it. See for yourself.

Q Talent Search - Round One

QTS TALENT SEARCH! The Fourth Edition of this event taking place! I am sure that most of you guys have heard of talent search programs like American Idol, X-factor, Britain's Got Talent or to bring it even closer home, Digicel's Rising Star, where persons from different walks of life go head to head in competitive mood to see who will emerge the victor who takes home the grand prize. It is programs like these that help, make or break individuals as it shuffles out the weaker ones while the best rises to the top. The same thing applies to the competition that the Q-95 Radio Station in partnership with LIME, has to offer in Dominica. Yes, a small island in the Caribbean, between two french islands has taken it upon itself to help find some of the wonderful talent that Dominica has to offer. The Q-Talent Search 2013 is the fourth one of its kind taking place and this is the finale.

The event started somewhere around March of 2013, where individuals would call into the radio station and sing a rendition and get judged on it. Later down, those who made it pass the call-in section would then go to an audition where they would sing in front of some judges while the persons listening over the radio had to vote on whole they thought the best persons were, or simply their favorite via texting. After there would be the semi-finals and then the finals. BrBpTV today is bringing to you the Finals competition! Yes! the grand finale of the competition which took almost 7 months to come to its final conclusion. The winner, or should I say the best of the best or the winner of all these winners will be selected and the bragging rights with everything else it comes with will be taken. The first person to ever win a competition of this sought goes by the name of Asher Thomas from Paix Bouche in 2010. Then we had Shamica Sorhaindo of Roseau in 2011 and the present champ Rachel Jno Baptiste of Goodwill in 2012. Who will be the Q-Talent Search Champion of 2013? Find out as we bring to you Round One of the QTS Final 2013 Competition.

Jermaine Edwards Dominican Concert

Them can't stop we... in today's world, when absolute belief of truth meets what may seem to be of obsolete cause, the people must rise and take it back. Contemporary cause marks the presence of what we deem to be sanctimonious, and it is because of this the people in this episode are so joyous. For the cause of rejoicing is very much alive today as it were 2000 years ago.
Some of you may be thinking, well... what is he talking about right? It's not hard to see when we look on the inside and on the inside we find Christ Jesus the reason King. Many persons don't understand the situations and the hard times that certain people went through and it is because they remain steadfast unto this absolute truth that they are where they are today! A prime example and testimony of this arose from an individual out of Jamaica, known as Jermaine Edwards. He shared the truth that he knows and upon total admonishment to his Creator he rose from the ashes. He gave a bit of his life testimony as he came and ministered in powerful song to the people of Dominica. Wow! We were indeed inspired by this young man because what he had to say that night was meant for us. Never give up on God because he won't ever give up on you.

Preparing the stage for Jermaine Edwards were some of Dominica's finest gospel artists in the game right now and they did put everything into perspective. It was like as if they all read each others mind as they came and delivered great artistry and sound message and we at BrBpTV has brought it to you and all those who could not make it from overseas. One thing that is certain in Dominica is the present hype that the people have in both secular and gospel arenas. Utilizing that energy in the right place calls for absolute reckoning and you will see people giving some serious praise and getting down, down, down according to Sernel! I love it, I absolutely love it and it gave us a great pleasure to be there in the presence of some much hype and celebration. Please, sit back and/or even dance, when needs be, as we, BrBpTV, bring to you the Jermaine Edwards Dominican Gospel Concert.
