Just like that of the capital city of Roseau, in the Commonwealth of Dominica, Portsmouth the second town, has its own carnival parade celebration going on and the showdown happened near the Benjamin Park. Persons from all over gathered to hear and be a part of the pulsating music of the drums and that of the bands where the rhythms took them around the town as it was skillfully played. The Signal Band, one of our up and coming favorites, made it to Portsmouth alongside the well know Triple Kay International. The roads were filled with some serious bouyon music that definitely brought riddim and entertainment to the crowd gathered as some chipped down the street while a few wobbled across. Hehe. I, however, must make known that there is still so much to be desired when it comes to the organizing of these events in the North but given the present situation of the economy, there isn't much to say but to hope that next time things will progress. But with all this said, folks did enjoy themselves and it was indeed a time to remember.
