Creole Cultural Finals in the North

Here we are once again for the Creole Finals held in the North of Dominica, Portsmouth. Taking place none other than in the Cabrits National Park, which is seen by everyone as a National monument. What better place is there to celebrate and display the country's national traditions and culture than at one of its historical site which is also known as the Fort Shirley. From the very starting of the Creole Competition in the North, way back in 2010, BrBpTV has been there to broadcast some of the highlights that take place in this remarkable event for each year that it has been held. This year is unlike any other and we are back once again to do justice to the cause. Yes, we take pride in our culture and this is one of the arenas where you will get to see culture and culture at its best. After all, it is a competition so it is expected that everyone will be putting their best foot forward to wow the crowd and judges in the customs. The winners of course will make it to the grand event and that is the Independence Cultural Gala to display the best in tradition and customs. Doing what Dominicans do best, it is indeed another festive time of the year, and the turn out has in no doubt been a tremendous support in participation and crowd support for the culture tradition itself.

This year we have decided to do things a bit differently here at BrBpTV and for the sake of not turning this episode into one of competition, we have decided to switch it up a little. Last year at the Creole Cultural Finals in the North 2011, we highlighted one dance group to showcase the different styles of cultural dances in Dominica. This year, we are doing things differently yet again. We are showing more highlights of the different activities that took place at the event and also one particular, as tradition would have it, dance style that has never been shown before on BrBpTV for the Cultural Season. Surely, the crowd does have something to say on the matter at hand, so we will also take a listen to what they have to say as well.
We want to give you a wider scope of what is going on in the tradition and customs of the people and therefore next year, God's spare, the episode will also be different from this one. We also want to commend the youth for taking an adamant role in the cultural season this year and we implore them to continue the good work. Tradition will be upheld as the mantle is passed down to the youth. The young mixed with the not-so-young who were also mixed with the in-between all played a part in this event so a great job by everyone. Do enjoy as you share with us and we share with you the Creole Cultural Finals in the North. To the Dominicans both in Dominica and abroad, do have a wonderful Creole/ Independence Season. Be real Be positive!
